Shaikh Ismail Wali: (Approximately 1170 – 1240 A.H)

                                 Shaikh Ismail Wali was the son of Sayyid Ahmad Wali and also the father of Periya Muthuwappa Wali. The tomb of Habil son of Prophet Adam is in Rameswaram Island. The ruler of Ramnadu Vijaya Ragunatha Sethupathi endowed a village called Pudukulam in 1745 to the said shrine. One of the tombstones on a grave in the courtyard of this ancient shrine contains the following Arabic inscriptions. According to the inscription, the buried person was Shaikh Ismain Lebbai of Kayalpatnam. He was looking after the Shrine of Habil and also running an Arabic College there. The government of India is giving an annual grant of Rs. 511 to this shrine, which had been fixed 160 years ago.
