                              Thaika Sahib Wali (Keela karai): (1192 – 1267A.H / 1778 – 1850 A.D)

Shaikh Abdul Qadir alias Thaikh Sahib (Keelakarai) was born in Kayalpatnam on 1192 A.H. His mother died when he was a small baby. As he was fed milk (breast feeding) by many ladies, he married at Keela Karai. He studied under his maternal uncle Shaikh Abdul Qadir alias Kattu Thaika Appa who has composed the famous “Razzanatul Ilm”. He established an Arabic College at Kerala Karai and taught many students. He has composed forty poetical works in Arabu Tamil on various themes, including Mysticism and medicine. He was a great scholar , mystic and a teacher. He has written several poems in Arabic and Tamil. Imamul Arus, Kunangudi Mastan and Shaikna Pulavar were all his mportant students.
