Palayam Hafil Habeeb Muhammad Alim: 

                                                                      Palayam Habeeb Muhammad Alim wa a distinguished scholar of Arabic and an eminent professor who had remarkable Knowledge of various subjects of Islam. The honour of being produced  the first Arabu Tamil Tafsir goes to Palayam Habeeb Muhammda Hafil(Futuhabur Rahmaniyyah Fi Tarjamathi Tafsir Kalamir Rabbaniyyah).Shaikh Mustafa Wali of Ceylon who also translated a part of Quran was his student who studied under him at Kayalpatnam. Palayam Habeeb Muhammda Alim was  a son of Sadak Muhammad Ibrahim Alim and a descendant of Sayyidna Abubackar Siddiq (Raliallahu anhu) . Futuhabur Rahmaniyah was  first printed in Bombay Husayni press and published in 1296 A.H / 1876 A.D. An important feature of this Tafsir is that it contains two types of interpretations. While the external or Zahir meaning is given in the main body under each line of the original Arabic Text, the esoteric or batin interpretation is indicated in the marginal notes or hasshiyah. Habeeb Muhammad Alim’s Tafsir is guidance to other Tamil translators.
